B for Books #AtoZChallenge

source: pinterest

Head of the Literary club in school and a favourite of the English professor. Definitely eligible to be labelled a bookworm. Hell, she'd read all of the Harry Potter books and urged everyone around her to do the same too. She had this circle of reader friends who always had a bunch of books being passed around. This was, of course, before the plus two boards weighed down on the poor souls and killed their leisure time. Good old days.

After my reading hiatus from school, I expected to return to the habit and constantly having a pile of books at my desk. But I found myself reading only occasionally. I brushed my disappointment off with the excuse of being engaged for the fresher year. But the same followed the next year. And the year after that. And the next. I found myself engrossed in my academic work and resorted to other things in my free time. I still carried the label of being a reader, which brought me again to new circles of book-lovers. Much as I enjoyed discussing books, I found myself far behind the ones I stood among. I realized that my collection was scarce in comparison to theirs.
